Favorite Design Tips

Designing a space can be a daunting task, whether you are an experienced interior designer or a newcomer to the field. There are a myriad of design tips and tricks that can make the process easier and more successful. Today, we want to share some of our  Favorite Design Tips and tricks that we’ve learned over the years.

Mix and Match Textures

When it comes to designing a space, adding different textures is key to creating depth and interest. We like to mix and match textures to add variety to a space. For example, pairing a plush velvet sofa with a sleek metal coffee table can add visual interest and create a more dynamic look.

Pay attention to lighting

Lighting is an essential element in any design. We always make sure to have a mix of ambient, task, and accent lighting in every space. It’s also important to consider natural lighting and how it affects the space throughout the day.

Hang artwork at eye level

When hanging artwork or photographs, it’s important to keep the eye level in mind. We recommend hanging artwork so that the center of the piece is at eye level, which is typically around 57 inches from the ground. This ensures that the artwork is easily visible and creates a cohesive look within the space.

Use statement pieces to add interest

Statement pieces are a great way to add interest to a space. This can be anything from a bold area rug to a unique piece of art. We like to use statement pieces sparingly to keep the space from feeling cluttered, but they can really make a big impact.

Don’t forget about the small details

Small details can really make a difference in a design. Whether it’s a vase of fresh flowers or a decorative throw pillow, adding these finishing touches can bring a space to life. We like to incorporate small details that tie in with !the overall design theme and add a personal touch to the space.

Incorporating these design tips and tricks can help you create beautiful and functional spaces for your clients. Don’t be afraid to experiment and find your own style, as every designer has their own unique approach to design. Remember, the goal is to create a space that is both aesthetically pleasing and functional for the client’s needs. We hope you try our Favorite Design Tips in your client’s spaces or your own.
